Did you buy a VW "lemon"?
Welcome to the club! I've been there before...and it's not a good feeling.

We've had several customers that have gone out and purchased a variety of different VW's from Beetle's to buses.  Some on-line (site unseen), some not.  Some in great shape, some not so much.  I need folks to understand something at the risk of insulting anyone.  If you buy a vintage VW like the ones we work on here day in and day out, chances are it's at least 30-years old.  The last Super Beetle or Bay Window bus to roll off the assembly line was back in 1979.  Yes, that was 30-years ago!   Even the last Vanagons to roll off the lines back in 1992 are now 17-years old.  Many of them with very high miles from driving them on countless cross-country vacations.

If you buy any vehicle without having it inspected, that's your choice.  Please keep in mind we can check over any VW you may consider purchasing to put your mind at ease PRIOR to your purchase.  If it should need more repair than your can afford, you'll know first hand whether you should buy it or not.  There is usually a reason someone is selling their car after all, and it's usually not because every detail of the vehicle is in A-1 shape!   If the vehicle needs work and costs more money to fix than you paid for the car, this is not our fault.  It's 17-50 year old VW that has most likely had several owners and repair shops work on it thoughout it's years. Some experienced repair folks, some not.  Some cars we've had here at the shop for repairs haven't even had their oil changed - in years!  See pic below:

before making any VW purchase!  Repairs on any vintage VW or technologically advanced and computer controlled Late model Bus,Vanagon and Cabriolet can be expensive at times.   If the VW hasn't ran in years, it could need lots of work.  If the gas tank is rusted, and especially if the fuel has turned to varnish, chances are it might need major work.  If it's been sitting with a carburetor full of cheap ETHANOL mixed fuel, that's not a good thing either. If it's fuel-injected, expect more possible problems from sitting.  And after we finally get your VW running, if all of a sudden the brakes go bad or we find the electrical system has problems, that's once again NOT OUR FAULT!  The poor VW has possibly been neglected or parts have just plain worn out.  See pic below of actual bad gas:

at VolksRepair, LLC to repair and/or restore your VW's and keep them on the road for decades to come.  We do our best on every single VW that comes into this shop.  Are we 100% perfect?  No. Is anyone?  Sometimes old cars can be stubborn and need a second visit to get the problems corrected.  Please be patient if this is the case as your VW is now 30+ years old and may be tempremental at times.  It could even have some problems that were created from the original repair. An example would be you just got new brake pads, but now your car has a leaking wheel cylinder.  Again, old cars with old parts that can wear out with no notice.  I can state with certainty that if you take care of your problems, your VW will be very inexpensive to maintain once it's brought back to factory specifications and properly maintained!
